Welcome to the Governors section of our school website

Welcome to the Governors’ section of our school website.  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Chair of the Governing Body.

I have been Chair of Governors for a number of years and retain my interest and enthusiasm in being part of the whole school team with the aim of providing the best possible education for our pupils. I am particularly proud of the diverse and inclusive nature of our school together with the residential visits available to all pupils in Key Stage 2 and the opportunities for so many pupils to take part in school productions, Christmas events and pantos.  All three of my children were educated at Swain House Primary School and all three went on to gain places at university.  We have lived in the local area for the best part of 30 years.

In the past year our Governing Body has reconstituted and we used the opportunity to reduce the numbers of governors from fourteen to nine.  We now have four experienced governors with considerable knowledge of Swain House Primary, three experienced governors with knowledge of serving on other governing bodies and two new and enthusiastic parent governors. (Please click on the link below for further governor information)

The Governing Body is responsible for both the conduct of the school and for promoting high standards. It carries out its role by setting the vision for the school and then ensuring that the school works efficiently and effectively towards achieving its vision. The full Governing Body meets six times throughout the academic year and this is where amongst many other things the big decisions are made which affect children, staff and school families.  In addition to Governors meetings, the Governors meet regularly with the Leadership team of the school to analyse pupils’ achievements and to monitor the School Improvement Plan.

The Governing Body welcomes and positively encourages your support and would ask you to take a little time to complete the questionnaires that are sent out around the time of parents evenings. This really helps us to know what you feel positive about Swain House and what you feel less positive about so that we can constantly strive to consolidate and improve.

If you have any questions or suggestions please leave your contact details with the school office and either I or one of the parent governors will contact you.
